I went to my high school prom with a pretty blonde girl. I really don't remember much of it, except guys who usually didn't talk to me kept coming up and saying, "Who's your date?"

A couple years later, she took me to her high school prom. I don't remember much of it, except I was in college with shoulder-length hair and no dress shoes, so I wore the nicest hiking boots I had. I remember that at the after-prom, we slow-danced to Chicago's "As Time Goes On." It was nice.

We still keep in touch. In fact, the descendants call her Grandma.

Sadly I come from a town like the one in Footloose. No prom for us - we had a banquet. Fancy clothes, but no music or dancing. It was always the Junior/Senior banquet. The Seniors would pass things down to the Juniors, and the Juniors would make prophecies about the Seniors - as in "10 years from now Holly will be .....". For the life of me, I cannot remember what they prophesied about me. My Junior year, the infamous "Super Flirt" award was bestowed upon me by someone (Vicki??) in the Senior class. That probably comes as no surprise, eh?

Since we couldn't have a prom, the after parties were legendary. The town would have been better off to just let us dance and drink while being chaperoned.

I was dragged to one of these by my ex once. I sat on the outside patio with two other husbands shooting the breeze all afternoon. The father of the child to be eventually came outside with us and said he had no clue what the point of the whole ceremony was but did anyone happen to have a tranquilizer he could have...lol
Lol that is soooo funny, I whould be the type to sit out with the men and enjoy myself. Still do not understamd
