I have an original copy of The Stand. The price on the book jacket is $19.95 and there's a code on the last page which is CC32. I know it's not a first edition but what does the CC32 mean? There isn't a number line code on the copy right page either. Any idea what printing/edition this is? Any info would be appreciated.

kingricefan or jchanic may have some info' for you.
I know it's not a first printing but I don't know how to interpret Doubleday's use of their codes. I imagine, since it's using the double 'C' that it's gone thru the alphabet twice in the printing history, meaning that code A thru Z would be 52 printings and then AA to CC would be the 53rd thru 55th printings. Someone on here should know the answer for sure, I believe at one point in the past their was an expert who was able to chart it all out for us.

I've been trying to isolate the printing date indicated by that code, but I'm having trouble figuring out the year. The code CC is for the year. The 32 indicates that it was printed in the 32nd week of the year. A code of "P" is 1974 (Carrie is P6). The "CC" could mean that it was printed in 1986 if I calculated it properly.

The code for the first edition of The Stand was T39 so what your saying regarding the Carrie 1st edition "P" would make sense since it was 4 years later. But it would be 1987 I think following your example. I had no clue the hardcover was in print for that long... Just 3 short years before the uncut version was released. Thanks for the info!
