Thank you for those, Dan.
I've been kind of surprised at how much his death is affecting me. I mean, I always loved the guy, grew up with his music, listened to it a lot...but... I don't know if it has to do with the fact that he and I were close in age, but it's really depressed me A LOT. I have listened to his music almost nonstop since he died, and just can't seem to stop. I guess I just keep thinking that I don't like the way this world is set up. Live, die, done. It can be very depressing.
Lovely Danie. I know exactly how you feel. I am a mega-fan of His Royal Bad*ss so this has hit me very, very, very hard. He was two years older than me, so we definitely were close in age. He is a Gemini (his birthday is June 7), I am a Gemini. He had a hard childhood, I had a hard childhood. He was an outcast, I was an outcast. He overcame many of his obstacles that life placed in his way and championed. Yesterday was the first day I was able to actually stop and listen to any of his music. I started out feeling great, jamming along, dancing away when I could, just enjoying the music and really, really marveling at what a diverse and varied catalogue of music he left behind. Until 'Still Would Stand All Time' came on (it's on the Graffiti Bridge CD). I lost it. Such a beautiful melody, building upon itself until it reaches the crescendo of multi-tracked heavenly vocals. Such profound words. I cried hard, on my knees. I so miss him. But, if we only feel sadness we are missing the point of his life and his music. It's always been about acceptance and love. He taught me so much in those areas. We must fight our sadness and grief and reach out with love now. That's what he was all about. Stay strong, my friend.

I'm sorry, Dan.

Still Would Stand All Time

It's just around the corner, it's just around the block
This love that I've been waiting for, a Love solid as rock
A Love that reaffirms that we are not alone
A Love so bright inside you it glows
And night and day would run together, and all things would be fine
Still would stand all hate around us
Still would stand all time
Still would stand all time

It's not a thousand years away, it's not that far my brother
When men will fight injustice instead of one another
Its not that far if we all say yes and only try
Then Heaven on Earth we will find

(all time)
(still, still would stand all time)

No one man will be ruler, therefore love must rule us all
Dishonesty, anger, fear, jealousy and greed will fall
Love can save us all

Oh, love, love, oh love if you would just please give us a sign
Still would stand all time
Heaven, heaven on earth we all want to find (we all want 2 find it)
Still (still) would stand all time

We are not alone people (we're not alone)
Tell me can you see the light (can ya see the light)
If you just open your eyes (still would stand all time)
So much you will know, so much you will show
Love, love, its not that far away if we all say yes and give it a try
(Got ta give it, a try, yes!) still would stand all time (I say still)
(so many times) so may times, I thought I could not make it
(still would stand all time)
Life was closing in I just knew, I just knew I couldn't take it
That's when love opened it's arms, and if you don't go in child
Still would stand all time (still would stand all time)
You better run to the light, leave your past behind
All things will be fine
Still would stand all time

At last Thursday's yoga class the instructor played all Prince songs for our music as a tribute. Surprising how well Prince songs and yoga go together although it was difficult to hold some of the poses when the music made me want me to bounce along with it.

The song that I just can't sit still for is 'Baby, I'm A Star'! ;-D

That's a great one! Don't think he played that--might have been just a little too bouncy. To be honest, it was one of the more challenging classes I've done so far so my memory of which songs he used is a little fuzzy. My muscle memory, on the other hand, is still reminding me I'm not as young and flexible as I used to be--yet.

Today LilMan was grumpy when I picked him up from school. This was the first thing we go to when that happens, and it always makes him smile.
'Cynthia wore the prettiest dress,
but different colored socks,
sometimes I wondered
if the mates were in her lunch box'

Love this song! Makes me smile, too!

I'm glad some of his music is available, but I feel guilty listening to it on youtube because I know how strongly he felt about it........I'm torn because I want to respect him, but I also love his music so much.....
