Just found out that the beloved actor Ralph Waite who played Papa Walton on 'The Waltons' television show has passed away at the age of 85. Rest In Peace, sir, you were (and still are) a true gift to our television viewing. Good night, Papa!

He brought so much to The Waltons, but touched my heart more as Jackson Gibbs on NCIS. He will be missed. May he be at peace.

He holds degrees from Bucknell University and Yale University Divinity School.
...he beat the noose of alcoholism and became one tremendous actor...he brought dignity to any role...but I still liked him best as Gibb's Pa...
Loved the episode where they went to meet his old war buddy who was dying.
Oh, that was a good episode. Spoke volumes. Wonder how they will write him out of NCIS and Bones.
