It is very sad it is like like. You would think they could cut the price to ease everything for all involved.
Certain universities will do that, the ones which are non-profit and are run by private insurers, but that is only the VERY high end ones. Most universities are made for profit and won't do anything of the like.

Thank god I have a country which pays for university education, I feel sorry for your daughter, having to take online classes and pay that amount of money, criminal is what it is.
That piece of lambskin paper with the fancy writing costs an arm and a leg over here. The one good thing about where the daughter is going and the program she is in (Scholars Politics, Policies and Law) is that many of her classmates (with a third being international students of policitians, royalty and ambassadors) will be running the world in a few decades and she's making great contacts. Of course that is also on hold at the moment.

Good to know that your daughter and her international friends will be my enemies soon. :)

Just joking, of course.

My daughter is in college and has been forced to take online classes. Little to no help if there is something the students don't understand. Half the time the site crashes and there have been numerous problems with testing and no recourse for the students from the problems they experience. It's basically like having to learn out of a textbook and little else. Try doing that with statistics. And the school gets to charge $4,500 a subject for something worth now about $500 without one-on-one interaction with professors and any help other that what you can get on your own.
My youngest finished spent last month and a half of sophomore year online. The university was very generous and refunded us around $800 of his room and board... our total cost initially for the semester was around 27,000. Just received the bill for fall semester. Thankfully the benevolent university RAISED costs approximately 2800 for the coming year.

30 years ago I built a 2400 square foot house for what this year is going to cost.

Hey, who you calling old???

Pretty funny.
There are some words, with the same spelling in German and English.

For example:

Kindergarten
Doppelganger
Inaugeration
I think it's just that those are German words English stole from Germany's word collection and called them it's own

My favorite German word currently is "wachbarren" (apologies for the fact I forgot the accent marks) the word for raccoon, literally "wash" "bear", describing how raccoons are very thorough and will clean their food as best as they can before eating it.

It is "Waschbär" (singular) or "Waschbären" (plurality)
