I'm surprised that no one ever started a thread about this. Today I bought a LED book light from Chapters. It was fine at first. No buzzing noise, no overheating or anything. But I turned it off and on 3 times in one evening. I think I must've worn it out. Suddenly it made a popping sound that reminded me of an old-fashioned camera in a period film. There was no smoke, no fire. But it freaked me out enough so that I never wanted to use it again.
I think I will just go back to using my table lamp. When I remove the shade, it gives me proper light for reading that I can't get from the ceiling light alone. I don't want to wreck my vision. I also have a desk lamp, but it gets too hot and that makes me very nervous.
What sort of lamp do you use for reading?
