Sad outcome for some Fort Mac firefighters...........

That is just so humbling to read. It sounds like all firefighters are at elevated risk. I knew they could die any day on the job, but it never occurred to me that there were long-term ramifications of breathing in so much smoke from so many substances. (And now I feel a little stupid, because it seems kind of obvious. But, at least I know now.)

This was the Fort Mcmurray Beast. The largest in the world. My home for most of my life. I still have relatives staying with me from up there. I am so sad about this medical issue. I know one firefighter who asked permission to break into my families house to take the food there. They had none while they worked 48 hour shifts. They sacrificed so much....as did the Mounties.

That must be so devastating to witness. I'm sorry this is happening, and to an area you love to boot. :-(
