Welcome to the board, and I am sorry to hear about your son-in-law. You have just stumbled onto a board full of people who are compassionate and empathetic, and willing to help fellow members through hard times. I'm learning that through my own experience. You've come to a good place, and I hope you stick around.

My name is Jenni and I live in Missouri. I am an avid reader and a wanna be writer. I have loved Stephen King since I was 13 years old. We met in Boulder while I was reading The Stand. I am now 39. Our love affair (of which he has no clue) is the longest love affair I have ever been in.

I have 3 kids- Lindsy (22), Sj (3) and Liam (1). I am married to a sweet man who probably spends more time in shock at my antics than anything else. Currently I am at a crossroads in my life. Trying to pull up my big gurl panties and deal with it all but my hips are bigger than they used to be and I am getting tired.

On 7/22/14 my 22 year old son in law was tragically killed at work. He worked on a highway road crew and was struck by a trash truck while picking up the last cone of the day. We have no answers. We don't know what the driver was doing or how a truck of that size and height doesn't see a flashing flagger truck and a line of sitting cars. We hope to know soon.

The love of Stephen King that my son in law, Dylan, and I shared is what brought me here today. My daughter and he had 5 wonderful years together, 9 months of those as man and wife. We were blessed to have him.

Thank you for letting me join!
Hi, Jenni. Welcome to the SKMB. Thoughts, prayers, and vibes. In my own way I understand how you have arrived here. Keep posting.

So sorry for your loss franny. I lost my 1st son 2 weeks before his 2nd birthday to meningitis. He literally burned up overnight from the fever and his spleen ruptured. Reading "Pet Semetary" was very hard for me and SK said it was the hardest novel he's ever written because he interviewed parents who've experienced the death of their child. As painful as the research was it added some heart breaking realism to the story. If you can still feel sorry for others you're on the road to recovery. Bless you.

Welcome to the board, Jenni. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I think many of us here have been touched by life's inexplicable sorrows and perhaps that is why we all love SK's work so much; for no matter how farfetched a story may be, his characters are real and experience all of life's highs and lows, and in those stories we can see ourselves.

You'll find that many board members are here for one another through the laughter (of which there is much!) and the sorrow (which, unfortunately, is ever present for at least one of us). I hope you stick around and use this board to your advantage: let it be an escape when you need one but also let it be a place you can share your good times and bad.

Again, I say "welcome."

Very well put carrie's younger brother ! (you have a wee touch of the writer in you!) :encouragement:
