Changing of the guard, Seoul-style. Think Buckingham Palace, but traditional Korean.

I forget what these statues commemorate, if anything. It's disoriented to be in front and looking at them. Also gives you a bit of inner-ear imbalance.

A statue of Sejong the Great. Fascinating guy. Promoted science, optimal agriculture, national defense, foreign relations, merit and ability over class, knowledge and literacy for all. He designed Hangul, Korean phonetic writing, in order to spread literacy. Hangul is in place still to this day, and Sejong's image graces the ubiquitous 10,000-won bill.

(In case you're wondering about the American flag, I believe that's the American embassy in the background.)
