You don't need to spend thousands of dollars (unless you want signed and numbered limiteds). If you just want copies of his books, I recommend going to thrift stores and used book stores. You will be able to find many of his titles (both hardbacks and paperbacks) and won't have to pay an arm and a leg to get them. I buy each new title when it is released but I also shop at the thrifts/used book stores to find older titles that are no longer in print.

I am collecting King's work's as originally published, including extras like Charlie the Choo Choo, The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer and Journals of Eleanor Druse. I have audio copies if was original release with a few needing upgrade to non library copies. I am starting on my short story collections now by seeking and buying copies of the magazines in which they were released in. I am hoping to find paper back 1st edition copies of Roadwork, Running Man, The Long Walk as well as Rage (someday LOL) I also have several about Stephen King books, The Dark Tower Concordance, Nightmares in the Sky, American Vampire, pop up book of Girl who Loved Tom Gordon. Umneys Last Case mini book, I have purchased the essays when available on line and saved to my hard drive. I recently purchased the illustrated copy of Salem's Lot. I have a second printing of The Dark Man. So other than what I have mentioned, what should I incorporate into my collection? I have a first edition of Blockade Billy but not the Cemetery Dance slip cased one, should I upgrade to make the collection more complete? And the same with The Dark Man, Should I find a slip cased copy? Should I buy every special edition on every book that is available? I saw where there is short stories that were originally in magazines and then released in paper back copies of books I already have in hard cover, like Cookie Jar, I want the magazine version. I have hard cover of Bazaar book of Bad Dreams and the story was also released in the paper back only version of Bazaar. There is another story like that that is not in hc of Full Dark but is in paper back of Full Dark. Does these additional books help add to the collection if I have them in the magazine already? Should I buy anthologies? Legends, Transgression and such? What do some of you add to your collections. At some point I would like to find reasonable priced copies of Secretary of Dreams pts 1 &2. Big wish item is also My Pretty Pony. Also what about omnibus editions, should I? Thank you for your help I hope you can see what I am trying to ask. I know there is three versions of Drawing of Three-do I need copies of all three? EEK it can be overwhelming. Thank you.

If you want to be a 'completist', then, yes, you need to have all and everything that has been published in each and every form/edition. Some of the folken here just collect paperbacks. Some folks just collect hardbacks. Some folks want the signed limited editions. It all depends on what you want in your own collection and how deep your pockets are, because those Bachman original paperbacks are going to set you back quite a bit just for starters. Good luck!
