11/22/63 was the first king book I read. 36 books later i decided to slow down and do my first reread. So why not have my first reread be the first book I read. Especially with the release on hulu. The so cool part is I'm re reading it and I came across all the references to IT. They talk about the murders, the clown, some of the victims. Of course being my first king book never made those connections. Now that I have read IT, this time around so different. When I read IT I didn't remember anything from 11/22/63. I didnt make a connection or thinking while i was reading IT ( i have read this before)or do I think most of us would. But I love the way king does this. Makes u feel like ur part of an inside secret only between the constant readers and author. Puts stuff in there just for us.
When I read 11/22/63 I wasn't a constant reader and of course blew right through that. All those references to derry didn't mean I thing to me. This time around getting different things out of the read. I have a friend who reads much more than me. Probably read over 100 books this year. But he never does any rereads and doesn't see the point. I'm re reading 11/22/63 and he just laughs. I think rereading books definitely has its pluses too it. I will even go as far to say it's a necessity for books that hit 3 catorgories. 1) Big book, definitely over 750 pages 2) has to be an excellent read, something u really enjoyed. And lastly not a book with a simple plot and 2 or 3 characters. Good example would be the dome. Lots of characters. I'm not even 20% done and not only am I remembering things I forgot but reading things that I don't remember at all. He keeps battling me on why not too. I always try and keep an open mind and repect their views. But I really want to win this debate so if u guys and gals have any other ideas why re reads are COOL, WHY ONE WOULD DO IT, WHY NOT DOING A RE READ COULD HURT UR EXPERIENCE, WHAT U GET OUT OF IT ECT. ECT.
Thanks guys and if anyone is reading 11/22/63 right now give me a reply or pm and we can bounce things off each other. Peace
