Okay, your neighbor is WHACKED! She also needs whacked upside her head (if indeed she was the one who did this latest intrusion). This is breaking and entering. Plain and simple. Someone broke the law and violated your home. I'm just glad that noone was hurt. Keep your door locked at all times. She's moving soon so that may make her feel even more brave to do something even weirder.

Good point. I am not great at locking the door, but definitely it will always be locked now. That bitch cray.

...you COULD just lock the door honey, as you say...but this is aberrant behavior-no matter how you frame it...nothing excuses it, and who's to say even if she leaves-that the alcohol fueled idiocy won't escalate, and she returns for another "visit" somehow...please be wary...not trying to be a doom-shouter, just worried about you guys...

Aw, thanks. You could be right, and we will be careful, but honestly it seems like she just wreaks havoc in her general vicinity. The victims of said havoc are chosen mainly because they are there for the choosing. I doubt we will hear from her again.

I did, however, report the issue to the apartment management, who will be looking into it. They're good about that kind of stuff.

Well. We could just remember to lock the door.

I am pretty sure she thought it was a funny prank and wanted to get back at us for complaining about her wreath-destroying behavior the other night. Thankfully, she is a rarity here; these apartments are pretty great, and the security is good. (You can't get into the building without a key fob, social engineering aside.) And she's moving in a few weeks.

Still. Totally NOT funny, and that kind of idiocy is going to get her shot one of these days.
Yeah.....that kind of home invasion is scary. Glad you're both ok. That kind of stupid prank could get you ventilated.

I thought for sure you were going to tell us you had a poltergeist opening cabinets...I was thinking like in The Sixth Sense before I read your whole post!

I think lots of people need meds in order to function and there's nothing wrong with that but it sounds like your neighbor might be off her meds or selling them in which case you do need to be a bit careful :( I had a neighbor friend whose actions were very much like your neighbor's actions - when she was off her meds, she would do similar things and justify her actions in her mind :(

No, I reported it to the apartment management. What can the cops do? No damage, nothing taken, nothing left. No real proof of who it was. There was entering, yes, but no "breaking."

The cops probably won't do anything about the cabinets and wreath. But, in the future if she does anything criminal or "off," the police will find a history of the behavior.

It might make it easier for her next neighbors to get their calls taken seriously. Or to establish if she needs help.

:)
