The board will be completely closed to posting, (In the forums/threads) so no, there won't be an accumulation of messages. You will still be able to post to the profiles and use the Conversation option for staying in touch with folks.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to post images to the profiles, but you can do so via the "Conversations".

I'm pretty sure it's not required of both members to following one another in order for one to leave the other a VM, or whatever we're calling a visitor's message these days.

It occurs to me that having no "Social Groups" might prove a blessing in disguise since those who used to spend most or all of their time in the Groups will now be spending time with everybody, and I assume that'll be a good thing for everybody else as well as them.

As for the games, they're going great guns, some of them anyway. When it comes to writers I think it's true that they'll find a way. And when those interested wanna see they can ask and be shown what'll exist in Conversations and/or eMails or however. Life, and writers, will find a way (please see famous Jurassic Park quote #119).

Ok no worries - only when i do write on a conversation flake, it says the message is hidden and waiting to be moderated in blue - will us newbies be blocked for the week ?

On a different note - anyone watching Harpers island ? I want to know if their will be a second series - but i reckon all the cast will have been hung like baubles from a christmas tree, with their guts for tinsel, by the time i get to the end!!

Your profile posting is currently moderated, (once you reach 150 posts, you become unmoderated) but the Conversations are not moderated at all--they are the same thing as Private Messages.

Are you still having problems with the Conversation process, have you had any success since we last spoke? (Flick me one as a test if you like...)

So is the content of the old social groups lost to us forever?? Please tell me there is or will be some way to access those archives - there is some material there that I very much want for personal use. And if it is gone forever, I will be unspeakably sad.

Everything is still there and Jordan has been looking into ways of making it viewable to members.

Pretty big assumption, Blunt. I just find that I spend a lot less tIme on the board. I miss the groups.

I think that Frank was probably just looking for a positive side to us not having the social groups anymore and that not all change is bad. We're still all the same people... :)

Yeah, Flake, probably so. But you'll not convince this Grrl that getting rid of the groups is in any way a positive thing. There are many reasons for that, perhaps the biggest being that they were less public.

    I hear you. :)
Although everything possible was done to cover as many bases as they could while choosing new software for the board, I think it's understandable and (acceptable) that not everybody will feel pleased with the results.
Personally (as I know how very much work has gone into it before, during and after) I'm just pleased that the majority of people have embraced the new board and are seeming to be enjoying it very much.

And I'm glad for that. Just, you know, the fact that the groups were less accessible than the board as a whole and that most of us there came to know each other pretty well made them a more intimate and safer space. There are things I would say that I'm not comfortable talking about on the main board. And that matters, sometimes a great deal.

I really do understand this, very much. I guess I've just come to realise that it's up to us to carry on with and foster the friendships that have been made, (The Conversations/P.M's are still available for those more personal things) if the bonds we've forged are strong, then change shouldn't have as huge an impact on us.
