I read this book years ago when it first came out.Way before I read the dark tower series and had know idea of any of the characters except Roland.I heard that they mention Eddie Dean and another character from the Dark tower. What do they say about Eddie in this book.(I love Eddie)

...it's been a minute since I did a re-read, but sticks in me miserable excuse for a brain-that his "part" in Black House comes along very near the end of the novel...you'll need to read it to understand the context...

Wow. I don't remember that at all. I've only read Black House once, though--maybe it's time for a re-read. Eddie is such an everyman--he observes & acts for the rest of us (one of my favorite characters--I think he's a close cousin of Larry in The Stand)

As a Talisman and Black House afficionado, I'm here to tell you that there ain't no Eddie in Black House. Perhaps the black house is mentioned in a Dark Tower installment. I don't know because I haven't gotten past The Gunslinger.

....I thought I remembered overheard "conversation" at the end of House?...or maybe the 14 shots of cough syrup that night has done addled me...

I thought he DID mention a person with the last name Dean in this book....can't remember if it was Eddy but could have been. It was not OUR Eddy Dean though....just someone with the same name. Uncle Steve was being cute mayhaps.

I really liked the Fishman character (Fisherman?). The crazy old coot who ate kids. Especially the phonetic writing of his accent.

Ted Brautigan from DT and Hearts in Atlantis is mentioned near the end.

14 shots on one night? Then it's true: nurses make the worst patients.

I'm pretty sure this is it, when jack FINALLY slips back into the Territories, He and Speedy talk. Speedy mentions the Gunslinger and says that he has made others, to which Sophia says that she hadn't thought it was possible. It's as much a ripoff as when we were told Jack Sawyer might appear in the DT books, which, by the way, he did. When Eddie is looking into the Rose in DTV he sees great things and near misses, dot dot dot, and he sees four men destroy a creature whose entire head appeared to be a huge eye. Love the books but the missed opportunities were glaring. BTW, at the end of DT4 King says endworld is a place for all of these characters to wash up, including Ralph Roberts. Was he referring to the book Insomnia because as far as I know the actual name 'Ralph Roberts' is never printed.
