If the OP is talking about using quotes from individuals on the site who posted in discussions, he would have to approach each one directly for permission. Posted work, even on the internet, is automatically covered by copyright.

It's the quotes about the inspiration behind each novel that I'm hoping to include - Ms. Mod?
I'm sorry, but we had your book removed from Amazon a couple weeks ago because you were taking material that was entirely from the web site and then charging for it without adding anything new or original by you. We will not give permission for that when people can simply come here to read it free of charge.

Yes, but can be quoted in the cases of review or comment. I know this. I do it every day.

This is what I was referring to. You can quote for the purposes of review or comment, as you said (I do this as a book reviewer, also :D), but not to print without comment or attribution. I'd looked at the book in question on Amazon's site last week and noticed that it was info straight from the website. That's not allowable (and I'm glad Mr. King's office could deal with that); in the same vein, taking quotes from individuals on the site would not be allowable without permission. I should have been more clear--sorry.

I am hoping this did not happen.

You're confusing me with another author, Ms. Mod; I was the one who tipped you off. ;)

My apologies--that's why the name sounded familiar. Since the book had been removed from Amazon I wasn't able to cross-check there and didn't think to check my pms.

We'd have to know more about the book you're writing and the quotes in context before being able to say yes or no.

Basically, I've listed Steve's most notable novels with facts about each one. I'd just like to use some quotes from this website about what inspired him to write each book. If it's a nay then I respect that and I'll leave it as it is. But it would make for a much more immersive read with some quotes ...

Are you editing your book? I looked back and notice that you say it's released on Amazon. If you could PM me with more details such as the name of the book so I can look it up on Amazon, that would be helpful.

It is up on Amazon, but I haven't included any direct quotes. I'm hoping to put some in. I'll pm you a link ...
