I so admire SK's ability to place story within a story. At first read, I think wait, I don't want to leave this first storyline, where are we going with this? Then as I get engrossed in the new story, I don't want to leave that one.
Currently rereading (for the umpteenth time) W & G and love the sheer genius of the craft. And the story grabs my heart every time. The quality of yearning, of regret, of bitter sweet memories is so profound. We all have memories of our first love, but very few can describe the rich complexity of emotion.
Another beautiful and masterful example of story within story is the Wind in the Keyhole, I've reread it again and again for the story and for the craftsmanship.
I guess in the meta sense, all the SK/ DT stories are stories within stories, within multi universes of story.
