I am selling a house over here which has bats that come and roost in the loft, in the Summer, give birth then fly away again. You are not allowed to exterminate them here as they are protected. They come, leave, then the bat protection league come and clean the loft up afterwards, free of charge. It's thought of as rather "charming" by the people that are buying it.....

I am not sure how "charming" a ton of bat guano can be?

We've had bats in our chimney - I didn't mind them - they actually kept the wasps away (I think), in any case we never had wasps when the bats were here. I would say it was charming for sure.

I love our bats. Living in the country we get a lot of Mosquitos. When the sun goes down the bats come out and do their arial acrobatics. But that's also the time to get out of the pool because they skim the water to get a drink. And I've been hit in the head by them more than once. :m_vamp:

It's fun to stand under a street light and throw rocks up in the air and then watch the bats dive for them - give it a try - that way you know which direction to jump when they dive. I've learned to live with critters around here - we've got bats, spiders, snakes, turtles, raccoons, we live almost in the woods.
