So, I have a question about blenders I'm hoping someone can help answer.

We SwiftDogs like to make homemade milkshakes and other frozen treats. Lately, I've been adding fruit to the shakes (cherries & bananas mostly) and my standard blender is having a hard time dealing with the mixtures.

Anyone have suggestions on a blender upgrade? I have a basic 16 speed Oster blender now. It's about 13 years old.

I was looking at the Vitamix blenders but they cost more than a small car so they are out. I was thinking of a KitchenAide or maybe a Ninja model. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!!

Since I’m the one that has to do the dishes I’ve always used an immersion blender to make the kids shakes. Still use it today and good with fruit. Very little clean up -- most important.

I have a ninja and I love it! Although my dad had a vitamix an it can do a lot more simply because it has more power. Such as make hot soups, and ice cream. It's worth the investment but I'm ok with my ninja

Is the Ninja the same as the Bullet? I bought A Bullet about 10 years ago - when it first came out, I think. We love it. We have the mug set and I've made smoothies, milkshakes and margaritas aplenty with it. If the Ninja is the same thing, you can't beat it. Of course, a Vitamix is the Holy Grailof mixers but a Bullet/Ninja is much cheaper.

Which reminds me of an anecdote from hubby. He was thrift shopping and found a Vitamix with all the blades. He grabbed it quickly and was walking away when a lady snatched it from his hands. "This is MINE!" My sweet man would never use force with a lady so he let it go. Need I say what would've happened if I'd been there? :icon_evil:

Different companies. Magic Bullet is about half the price of basic Ninja. I'd suggest research on motor power. There is also a Nutri Bullet

I have the NutriBullet too, it comes with two mugs, one smaller than the other and a tall tumbler, also a book of recipes, you can throw in frozen fruit or I use a couple ice cubes to chill it as well and it works great..

So, I found a Hamilton Beach blender with an 1800 watt / 2.4 HP motor on Amazon
