I read issue one of a four-issue series of the Tales From the Darkside comic book by Joe Hill. I don't have the comic in front of me, but if memory serves, I believe someone else is credited with adapting Hill's script for the television series that was not picked up (not an expert on comics, but I believe "adaptation" or however it was worded means the actual comic script was written by another person).

Anyway, I really enjoyed it. I have the first two issues and I assume the third issue will be out this month. I will read the second issue most likely this evening. The story was a good one, and there was a short interview with Hill in the first issue. He mentioned how, besides being an anthology, the stories would have connected in some fashion over the course of the series. An interesting way to update the old show. Also notable is he mentioned he was paid a lot of money for the project. This got me thinking that publishing the comic was a way for the company that started this project to recoup some of its investment since it never became an actual show -- I forget the exact organization behind this, CBS Films, CW? I'd have to check. But an ad said that, in October, there would be the release of an illustrated script based on the project. At least, I think that's what it is.

I am looking forward to that, and again, it's a neat way to get some of the money back and maybe to gauge interest in either trying to bring the series to The CW or another service. I assume projects that never went forward after their development stage have done this before; I would like to see this happen more often.
