I know this isn't technically related to Stephen King, but it is in the sense that I bet he will write an episode for this series one day (or at least get a story-by credit).

That is, if the series sees the light of day.

Seriously, I'm floored by this. The CW passed on the Tales From the Darkside pilot.

The reason I am so surprised is because you figure with Joe Hill on board, the CW would have looked at that as an in for getting into the Stephen King business. Maybe King would have created something for that channel later on.

But beyond that, this is just such a fun idea. I just don't get it. Well, I take that back a little -- shows get passed on all the time. The odds of success for any show, even one with a tenuous connection to King, are very low. Maybe I'm biased. I watched Darkside all the time. I love anthology horror programs.

Honestly, though, from something of an objective point of view, this was worth some risk capital.

The article mentions MTV as a possible outlet. For a couple reasons, I think that network would be a great platform for the show.

I hope King will try to lobby a bit for the show.

Would love to see a "Tales for the Darkside" revamp. Joe on board would of been awesome.

Side note, Stephen King did write an episode of the X-files. Classic King style with a creepy doll and all.
Steve's original screen treatment for the episode was way scarier than what was shown on TV. Chris Carter did a re-write I think.....

Yes, Kingricefan, "Sorry Right Number" was a Darkside episode. Wasn't my favorite, to be honest, but it was cool though.

Now, the other one mentioned by Misery Chastain, "Word Processor of the Gods," was also a Darkside episode, and I really like that one.

And on the X-Files episode, I've been reading about that in a book about King's unseen works. It was rewritten as you say. Would have been interesting to see King's original vision.

It's probably available in the 'Special Papers' section of the Bangor Library or the college that King attended, but you'd have to get permission to see all of that stuff.

I didn't know that about this particular item. The book I am reading mentions which unseen works are available that way, but I must have missed the qualifier on this one.

Have you read any of these restricted files, out of curiosity?

No, I haven't even been to Maine, tho it 'calls' to me. I wish I were important enough to be given access to those papers, but I would need to spend weeks in amongst all of that treasure.....
