Stephen King describes the experience of his characters so well and completely that for me the horror is usually empathy for his characters (Movies never seem to be as good as the books and I hope he retains his capacity for elephantitis for this reason. )
Leafy's thread in On Writing is interesting in many ways. The impact of bullies and the many ways bullying is perpetrated in our societies is a regular feature in his novels/stories
Most recently in Mr Mercedes
the woman who's car he steels is an easy target and the result of the combined impact of police community and Mr Mercedes is death
In Leafy's thread the subject is 'undercooked ' or childhood bullies . In the books and our societies the problem is adult bullies. Many people seeem to believe others exist for their benefit and it's evidenced in our societies every day in many ways Does anyone have any thoughts ideas or.......,.. they'd like to share? Sorry about the formatting, trying to use a temperamental tablet (gremlins)
MOD This needs a spoiler - if you have time to assist with format I'd be grateful - thanks

I think because there is a "space" after the ] and the first letter of the words in-between the spoiler. It has to be ]before, not ] before.
I don't think that's it either because even the simple act of replying to his post, has put his coding into a spoiler--and I didn't make any changes to it in the process.

I'm sorry L.R... :a11: I've completely derailed your thread from the get-go. (I was just so fascinated with whatever Grandpa has done...)

I don't even know how to use the spoiler button yet, but spoiling a spoiled spoiler, can really spoil your morning, Flake. Or whatever time of day it is there.

Lemme try to fix this..... :a11:

Many people seem to believe others exist for their benefit

This... absolutely, yes. :(
I have always been most disturbed/moved by the stories that tell of the real life human horror. They remain with me long after I close the book.

Oh, sorry, guys. I didn't mean to be so enigmatic about it.

Within the body of the
, I put in and switched off BB tags. So what I typed looked like this:

[spoiler]

(Don't ask me to do that again, because it's an extra layer of complexity to get those internal tags to show up.)

Okay... in that above post I did NOT spoiler my reply. :icon_eek: This is all getting a bit woo woo for me. (Perhaps I just need sleep.)

I found out that if you post and then edit, or probably quote, the re-edit screen has the BB tags wiped out, and you end up with a spoiler tag when you repost. So then you have to go back and re-add them. Maybe that's it???
