    Road Trip!

    Episode 26: King's November 2013 Road Trip

This is a special episode focused solely on Stephen King's November 2013 European Tour with stops in France and Germany.

Through the wonders of the Internet we go truly international this time with reports from Jeremy Guerineau of the French website - ClubStephenKing for the French leg of the tour and Hans was able to go to the German leg of the tour.

Episode 27 - Did Haven Open A Dead Zone Door?

The latest Stephen King news plus our review of the last 3 episodes from Season 4 of Haven.

We ponder Haven's decision to end on a cliffhanger with no word of renewal yet and speculate whether Haven could potentially end up withering away as a series much like the last season of The Dead Zone did.

    Woohoo!

We broke a record of more than 5000 hits in January! And have had over 20,000 hits since we started doing the podcast. Thanks to everyone who has listened to our show.

PS - Don't miss the next one as Hans and I talk about the short lived TV series - Golden Years.

Congratulations - that is a great accomplishment. I really enjoyed your interview with Marsha way back when - it was good to hear her opinion about things - quite informative, too.

    Thanks on your podcast.

You have us confused with another podcast - The KingCast - interviewed Marsha. And yes Bob LeDrew did a wonderful interview with it.

Oh sorry about that - it was Bob LeDrew - I have not been on here much this week.

I was spending more time with my hubby as he has now flown back up North. He is stuck in Rankin Inlet overnight and then it is on to Baker Lake for another 4 months and 3 weeks :O_O:

    And here you go!

Ep. 28: Golden Years-Real Deal Or Fool's Gold? is up.

As usual, we bring you the latest Stephen King News.

We also crack open the King Crate and dust off the curiousity that was the short lived 1991 TV series - Golden Years.

An original work, created for television, by Stephen King who penned most of the episodes. It concerns a 70 year old Harlan Williams - a nod to Harlan Ellison perhaps? - who begins to age backwards and glow green at times - among other oddities.

Is Golden Years the real deal or Fool's Gold? Or a mix of both? Listen to what we have to say. (Note - this segment runs in full SPOILER mode so if you have not seen the series as of yet and plan to do so, you may want to save this for later listening.)

Hope people are finding our Golden Years discussion enjoyable. Heads up on our next podcast - because there are so many Stephen King short stories being adapted to TV, Hans & I are going to be picking 5 stories each we think would be good springboards for TV Series. Feel free to join us in this Danse Macabre and send in a couple of your picks.

Saw this on Lilja's Facebook page, great topic! I think Big Driver and A Good Marriage would make awesome mini series, in the same vein as Dexter. I also think they would work great as a Netflix series- with the advent of original shows such as House of Cards and orange is the new black, I feel like both these novellas would fit right in content wise. Plus with Dexter being over, there's a void of the wonderful darkness that you just can't get enough of!

    Interesting choices. Thanks.

Are you aware that A Good Marriage has just recently finished filming for a movie version?

No I wasn't! But that is awesome! I enjoyed reading the afterword in Full Dark, No Stars where Steve said he was inspired by Dennis Raider/BTK for the story. The only films I have seen based on BTK are really low-budget crappy ones, so to see a fictionalized (a King based one to boot) version on the screen sounds great!

I'd like to see (and I know this isn't really a short story, more of an interlude) something like the Wind Through the Keyhole, specifically the Tim part. I think to make the planned Dark Tower behemoth of movies and tv series more palatable to mainstream audiences (and movie studios), we could see a series set in Midworld that tells not Roland tales, but just the fairy tales and stories of that level of the tower. It's like the approach Marvel took to their movie empire, start building the foundation and then, years later, you have the Avengers. A TV show on netflix of Tim Stoutheart could captivate the public's attention and thus allow the massive undertaking of Roland's quest to be successful. Surely the line of Eld has many tales to tell. (Incidentally, I just blazed through all eight DT books in a month and a half).
