I am glad that they chose the Pope- he has brought a more modern view to what has become a stagnant religion. I am not trying to offend anyone here but there really hasn't been much change within the religion for a long time. I hope he continues to move the Church forward. He is a brave man. (but can he twerk?)

Can he maybe recommend that women could become priests as well as men, rather than just being second string nuns who don't exactly have the same status? (Oh sorry - forgot this was not the religion thread).

I was driving through Ohio with a friend when breaking news announced the smoke signals and this guy emerged. Do you all remember where you were when it was announced or is it just because I'm a crazy Catholic that it was so moving for me? Anyhow, I was just humbled by how he bowed and asked US to bless HIM and pray for HIM before he prayed for us. I read in an article how he hasn't changed the words (of the Catholic doctrine), he's changed the music. How true! It makes me stop and think every time I'm in a situation I can make a difference: "what are you going to do for God's child here?" It's not enough to give lip service. We've got to be the hands and feet of Christ now - Papa Francisco says!

Perhaps, given time, he will recommend that as well. Being a church leader shouldn't have to fall under the 'Men's Club' idea anyway.
