I read it in Rolling Stone circa 1984 and I'm pretty sure it was published in a collection after that. I wanna say it was made into a TV episode of some anthology series at some point, but maybe not...
I forget what leads up to it, possibly an argument with her clod of a husband, but a middle aged housewife gets shot in the forehead. She goes into her bathroom and looks closely at the bullet hole in the mirror, and then sticks an eyebrow pencil into the hole until it touches her brain. Then she goes and sits down in front of the TV, and a portrait of Jesus sitting on top of the TV starts talking to her and giving her instructions/commands. No recollection of what happened after that but I don't think there was much more to it. Very odd little story, curious to read it again now if I can find it.
