Mrs. Mod, in the introduction in The Green Mile Complete Serial Novel, King mentions a story he once was working on, and that he liked a lot, about astronauts trapped on a planet where the inhabitants turned cannibals whenever it rained. Could you perhaps ask King what happened to the story and what the title was? And maybe the year it was written?

I also stumbled upon a Bangor Daily News article from 1982 where it's stated that King was at that time working on a book about the creator of the video game, Death Race 2000. There's a small quote by/interview with King about that game, but he doesn't mention this likely busted novel. As above, can perhaps King shed some lights on this, including a title?

I'm reading through the Scribner edition (2000) that has an introduction by Ralph Vicinanza and a Foreword by Steve but I'm not seeing anything in Steve's Foreword that mentions the story line you've referenced.

Since poster is from Denmark could it have been in a Denmark translation book??
They usually take the same piece and just translate rather than his doing a special piece for another language. I'm guessing it may be a misremembering of where that information was first published but it doesn't ring any bells for me. I've sent the questions on to Steve, though, so he may remember having written it and be able to give the answers to pass along.

Stephen's responses are in blue.

I remember that. I should have written it. I think I didn’t because it turned into a story called RAINY SEASON, about a town where it rained killer toads.

Unlikely. Probably the interviewer got it wrong. Although I was interested in the game.
