Oh no, I like that one, but then I'm just about an indiscriminate Rush fan, they can almost do no wrong in my sight, and hearing ..... and that's among his best bass playing ...

That Count Five song is really good. Fun jam-type drumming to it.

Lately I've been studying some 80s songs. Anyone remember Sparks, for instance? The song "Mickey Mouse" is catchy. As well as Jane Wiedlin's "Blue Kiss" (I always associate that with a horror film, Night of the Creeps, I think its name is). I've also been fascinated by Blondie's song "Dreaming." Besides being a good song, the drumming is interesting. I notice on live shows the drummer can't do it exactly like the record (way too tiring in the context of doing that plus all the other songs), but there is a video of him doing it with some other people where he did the song exactly like the record with all the rolls (pretty much anyway) and it is impressive (just one small mistake during that performance, as far as I could tell). And I believe he is left-handed on a right-handed kit (he rides leading with the right, which is impressive, but he does do the rolls/fills leading with left). As they say, I guess that is for those who know what I'm talking about...

Oh, Clampdown is great! Love that song. I didn't click on the video but I assume it is not a link to the performance they did live on, I believe at least, an old show called Fridays. I think they also did Train in Vain on that as well. There's something about early shows like that (in addition to Fridays, think about early Saturday Night Live) where the sound was captured so cleanly and pristinely (there's a Talking Heads performance on SNL that is just so rich). I also remember great-sounding live performances by Split Enz and Tommy Tutone on Fridays. But getting back to Clash -- yes, they had some awesome radio hits. Good call!
