They did the show almost entirely under blacklight with neon outfits on. John Lydon took the liberty to make lots of cowboy and redneck jokes. It was an awesome show. they sounded awesome.I saw them around that time as well in NYC. Can't remember if Flesh for Lulu opened but I do remember we only saw about 20 minutes of PIL and then the show was canceled because either Johnny Rotten or a fan or both were acting up or something. My most vivid memory of the evening though is having my friend's cousin who was too short to see over the crowd sitting on my shoulders. Good times!
Hey I had a massage last night. I bring music to mine. Last night was New Mastersounds. I linked to them earlier in the thread...Went for a massage today. The therapist knows I like Pink Floyd and had "Endless River" in the background during the session.
It really was pretty good massage music. It didn't motivate me to buy it, though.
P!nk's version of White Rabbit. I love P!nk and loathe Jefferson Airplane/Starship, so I'm not exactly sure if I like it or not
Last September I went o music festival in Virginia called the Lock'n Festival. Jorma and Jack were there with a band and two singers doing an Airplane tribute. It was AMAZING! Through my friends, I've been lucky to meet several times and get to know Jorma some. He is a super smart, laid back dude. And man what a player. Here's why one should like White Rabbit. Because in the standard molds of I-love-you/you-broke-my-heart/let's-have-sex, it breaks those molds. The other mold it breaks - no chorus verses. Just straight narrative, all the way through.
Gracie Slick's powerful tenor, while it lasted, and Paul Kantner's ethereal guitar were the reasons to like Jefferson Airplane. I mean, they were fine in the early days of the San Francisco sound. It's No Secret sounds to me like a Yardbirds song, only with a good lead female voice in an entirely too-big room. I'm a sucker for a good intro, and hearing Gracie boom out "When the truth is found..." out of the starting blocks for Somebody to Love is just great stuff.
Starship is the band with its soul surgically and thoroughly removed.
...yeah they is!....puts me in mind if Living Colour and P.O.D. had a kid......
