Character X: Hey. Wasn't it around here that the Donner Party got snowbound?

Character Y: I think that was farther west in the Sierras.

Character X: Oh.

Character Z: What was the Donner Party?

Character Y: They were a party of settlers in covered-wagon times. They got snowbound one winter in the mountains. They had to resort to cannibalism in order to stay alive.

"You should kill yourself.

Oh, I cannot tell you how often I've considered that. But life is far too glorious, Lawrence, especially to the cursed and the damned, like myself."
You should kill yourself. Didn't Bill Hicks say that about advertising executives in a stand up routine? Oh dear, I appear to have lost my thread. This quote was posted ages ago. I think that I may lie down in a darkened room for a while.

"I never heard from [him] again. Not that I didn't think of him. I always have. I always will. Because that summer was the last of my childhood. And though I never again saw what people were thinking, there was an enduring gift that he left me. What [he] did was open my eyes, and let the future in. I wouldn't have missed a minute of it. Not for all the world."
