I think when it comes to these bizarre and/or somewhat shocking scenes and scenarios.....it's just the author incorporating real horrors that can happen in actual life.

You don't have any kids do you?But if a 12 year old would understand what's going on in a porn film, why would they be disturbed by it? They would think 'oh, it's just a film with people having sex'. what's disturbing about that?
......and that took place at the hotel? That place was known for the ghosts doing weird sexual things, remember the guy dressed up in the dog suit?
And btw.....whiskey spelled backwards doesn't spell murder.
Okay, thanks for that. I've only seen clips of the movie. And MANY of them. No, the hotel didn't exist anymore in the sequel, it burned down at the end of the first book.
It happens when the True Knot are looking to abduct Abra. It has nothing to do with the hotel.
Oh my GOD! You're healthy and normal! .....the horror......Dirty Old Man Syndrome. It eventually affects us all.
12 year olds are not ready explicit adult activity like that, they can see what's going on! So they can on one level understand what is happening.
.....as I said MOST kids would find it disturbing, but not necessarily all kids.....many are alot more precocious than they should be.Abra is not a regular kid. She's like Danny was when he was young, far more adult and intelligent than her age. She may not have been sexual active yet, but watching adults having sex wouldn't disturb her.
And I doubt in general children would be very disturbed by sex when they understand what's going on. Only if they have no clue, and they walk into the bedroom with their parents having sex, they may be startled by it, because they don't understand at all what they're doing.

.....I kept my kid away from that latter type. Anyway, let's stop this line of discussion, it's not pleasant and could possibly get controversial.
Abra was special, definitely, I still like to think that her mental power protected her. Shielded her.
