Ontario Liberals re-elected with majority, Hudak to step down - The Globe and Mail

Kathleen Wynne is the first woman elected as premier of Ontario. She is also the first openly gay person to be elected to this position.

Following her acceptance speech she was joined on stage by her wife and her three children (from her previous marriage).

Most people expected a minority win, but she got a majority. Personally, I'm not surprised. She spent the entire debate apologizing. But, while she definitely does have supporters, I think her majority is the result of people voting against Hudak.

Time will tell if we made the right choice. I believe in giving a person a fair chance. Some people will be pleased with the choice and some won't. I have no opinion until she's been back in office a few months, and see if she implements any of the proposed changes promised.

 So, is this a Wynne-Win situation?
(I am so sorry, but somebody had to, they did...! :a11: )

And now seriously... I think this is great. :)

I have to steal that. It's just so cute.

That she is gay was never mentioned during the election. It just didn't matter. Although, apparently last night one of the news stations that were talking all night as the results rolled in, someone made reference to her "lifestyle choices". :a11:

I don't think about her so called "lifestyle choices". It's not something you choose anyway, so that doesn't even apply. What she does for the people of this Province is the only "choice" I care about!

I agree. I out it in quotes because it's such a dumb thing to say. Not sure if it was a reporter or a local politician. I'm guessing reporter because a politician using that term would be hung by the reporters. On the other hand, a reporter making a mistake like that, they all just ignore.
