So what your saying is that you obviously agree with me about Sean. The voice is so perfect. He would be absolutely perfect ! I would be happy with Mr. Glen as well just a fraction less so.
Mads initially made me think your off your medication but you know he would be kinda of awesome as Roland ! Nice job! You get a cookie
I do agree with Sean Bean (I admit it, you got me) but then have you ever heard his natural voice? He is from Yorkshire here in England (Youtube it) and it is not a Roland voice. If he was cast, I suppose it would keep the audience on their toes - everyone would expect him to kark it at any moment.

As for Mads, I knew there was a reason I didnt need the meds. I've called his people to see if he was interested. They refused to put me through and threatened me with harassment but I think that's just how hollywood and actors work. I am confident he will audition.

Thanks for the cookie - it is hungry work being a casting agent!

I just read what you wrote about making this series into a movie and completely agree. I love these books in an obsessive way. I have read them so many times and the audiobooks in my opinion are fantastic. No one could ever get all the details right . I think it would be very challenging to bring not only The Drawing Of The Three to screen but in The Dark Tower when Jake and Father Callahan go into The Dixie Pig and everything else in that book alone . Although it brings to mind The Orpanage & Del toro. Maybe it could be done. I'm ranting sorry. Ha
Oy would not be impossible. Look at Dobby from Harry Potter.
Regardless I think anyone who really loves these books as much as I do will find fault in any movie or TV series but will have to see them anyways because well it would be hard not to !

I must say its the first time in my life I have seen or heard the word Kark. I like it and will be weaving it into conversations from now on. Also I cannot think of what else he had been in other than the first season of Game Of Thrones.(oh no I feel the craziness from The Mothers Mercy episode coming back!) I'm not over it. Also keep trying with Mads. I think your onto something.

Well Mr. Bean (Seaney, as I like to call him), has been in quite a lot. Google the Many Deaths of Sean Bean. I believe it is over 27 times he has been killed on screen. That includes Game of Thrones which traumatised all readers/watchers. I feel your pain.

I am glad to have expanded your vocab. You can also spell it with a C (as in, 'don't tell the kids but the hamster has carked it'). Places not to use it include hospitals, retirement homes and funerals.

I will get Mads cast - its not like he is intimidating or anything.

Thanks - I feel equally obsessive and defensive too. If they films don't do the books justice then I am would hate for people to not read the books because the films were poor or completely removed from the book. You are right - the whole of the last book would be hard to do as a literal adaptation. I think the rambling point of my thread was that if something isn't suited to an adaptation because that medium doesn't support it, should it be done?

I'm not one of those people that picks at film adaptations - I didnt agree with half the changes in Lord of the Rings (geek creds on show) but I felt they tried to make the best adaptation possible. Things have to change but I just don't see the DT films matching the books. OF course, I will still hand over money to see them - which I suppose is the point.

I think motion capture for Oy - Andy Serkis? That guy can do Monkey's pretty well.

Lo
I've always found it interesting to see who people want to play as in films, I just have to block them out of my mind later to not ruin my view of the character's in my mind.

My first would be (like a lot of people) Javier Bardem as Roland, even if Roland isn't Mexican, to me he just fits.

Colin Farrell as Eddie, he just, I don't even know, looks the part, if you can make this guy look like a junky stoner, that is.
colin_farrell_14.jpg

As Susannah, Whoopi Goldberg Sanaa Lathan. Sanaa is beautiful and (I don't know if this is racist, cry your pardon if it is) has that black dialect accent.

As Jake, you know what? Maybe Chandler Riggs. He's a bit old for the role, but they might change the age like they did in Under the Dome, so it might be good.

Father Callahan: God, that's a hard one. I can't even figure that out. As for the rest, I dont even know, this is my first dream cast list.

So let us see yours!
I would choose

Roland == Anson Mount

Eddie Dean == tony oller

Susannah Dean== danai gurira

I'm with on that ! I have been obsessed in a demented way with the series forever. I even have all the comics and anything else you can get. It's an unnatural obsession that I really enjoy. And there are other threads than these as previously stated( that was genius) but not like what I thought !

It would probably pick up if there was a recent release or the movie was actually in production but too many new projects to talk about since the last DT book came out to keep it active.

Id also love it, and after just finishing reading the series, again! I can imagine the hate if they dont do it right. This deserves better than the hacks of his previous movies. It demands good actors, good director and money put in.

Given most of the bullshit idiotic movies the major companies spew out nowadays youd think they would like to produce something new and powerfull. After all how many Batmans and Spidermans and Harry Potters and different versions of the Hobbit can they make before people are sick of it? The first series of all I stated were great. Than they all sucked. Damn Warner Brothers take on a new challenge that people WANT to see. I sent emails to all the major movie companies essentially saying the same. Will you guys take a few minutes and do so also?

This guy could Roland:

He is definitely serious enough and has a great voice as well. I never thought of Liam Neeson. I keep picturing a young Clint Eastwood type.

I also thought of Liam Neeson, before reading this. On top of what Neesy sums up, Roland is often described as tall and Neeson definitely is.

Not too sure about the other characters. I see a lot of names running around this thread, but often way too old. People who are currently 16-18 years old for the role of Jake, who is 9 or 10? I don't think so. It almost has to be an unknown actor. At least I don't have any names lined up, as I can't recall having seen a recent movie with a little boy in it.

Ryan Reynolds or Aaron Paul, yes I can picture them both as Eddie, but Reynolds is 38 and Paul turns 36 this month, so I'm not too sure for a 21-year-old character. Maybe one of the actors mentioned for the role of Jake? I can't see a Colin Ford (who turns 19 next month) playing Eddie though. Maybe a bit too young still and a bit too nerdy (he plays Joe in the Under the Dome series) and even that performance is a bit iffy. The others I don't know.

Nicole Beharie has been mentioned, yes I can see her as Susannah. If she can pull off the way Detta Walker talks.
