The mother/ cop lady starts growing on you. There are so many possibilities on who done it, I haven't figured this one out yet. I have Top of the Lake in my queue. Must watch it!Just got through the first two episodes. They sure do know how to toss out suspects, don't they? Was Broadchurch like this? I am getting invested, though the first part made me teary (I'm becoming prone to that in my old age). Seriously, I can imagine NOTHING worse than something happening to one of my kids, and these parents... I don't get them at all. Tennant is interesting, but I find the partner to be stiff and unconvincing as a cop OR a wife/mother. I'll definitely be tuning in tomorrow for another couple of episodes One question: is there ANYONE likable in the whole damn town?
If you like this, Dana Jean , you'll definitely like Top of the Lake. Similar mystery, more cursing, though (if that bothers you), since it was a joint venture between Sundance channel and Brit TV (I think). Peter Mullen and Elisabeth Moss are wonderful in that show--both should have at least been nominated for Emmys.
Top of the Lake was very good. The mother/ cop lady starts growing on you. There are so many possibilities on who done it, I haven't figured this one out yet. I have Top of the Lake in my queue. Must watch it!
When I saw the previews for Gracepoint, I immediately thought of you and Harper's Island......and how you had Henry pegged from the beginning.Anyone watching this? It's really good. I love these crime Whodunnits. David Tennant (Dr. Who) and Anna Gunn (Skylar on Breaking Bad) are the main characters. Sort of along the same line as that old show Harper's Island.
This one, we have to figure out who killed a kid, Danny Solano.
Unlike Harper's Island where I knew immediately who the killer was, I haven't a clue yet on this one.
I think they all did it, just likeMurder on the Orient Express.
Anyway, this has hooked me. Anyone want to share their thoughts?
We've been watching it from the beginning but to be honest, I'm at the point where I just want the damn thing over with and inwardly groaned when they announced how many more episodes there are last night. I have no clue who did it but not sure I'm caring much and it will feel more like an okay, I can check that show off my to do list. Can't quite put my finger on why--probably has a lot more to do with me than the show itself.
Oh, this one is so much better. But, the killer isn't obvious to me here. This one is done with a little more skill than Harper, and too many side things going on to make you wonder what the hell is going on.When I saw the previews for Gracepoint, I immediately thought of you and Harper's Island......and how you had Henry pegged from the beginning.
I still haven't seen Gracepoint yet......I have to catch up soon.
Overplotting, maybe? I've seen that happen more than once in the last couple of years. Writers think they're being clever with a jillion Scooby-Doo twists, but they're mostly being annoying. It's especially bad when they break my Cardinal Rule of a Good Book: they jettison how real people actually act in favor of 'plot'.Must admit I enjoyed Broadchurch much more than Gracepoint. There is action here, but it has a drag feel too.
I have plans to catch up this weekend, then I'll be able to help you solve the mystery.Oh, this one is so much better. But, the killer isn't obvious to me here. This one is done with a little more skill than Harper, and too many side things going on to make you wonder what the hell is going on.
Just finished this on Netflix. It says First Season. Is there a second season? This was an odd little cultural excursion for me. I loved it. I loved the darkness to it and although it must have been warm there with all the nudity, the scenes always felt so cold. Looking Through the camera always gave me the sense of cold and chill.Just got through the first two episodes. They sure do know how to toss out suspects, don't they? Was Broadchurch like this? Creepy characters. I did have it figured out quickly -- on all counts.I knew the baby was Matt's--although Al could have been covering that up ; I knew that Robin and Johnno were thought to be related, I knew Matt was Robin's father (although Johnno ended up not being his son); I knew Al was a creep and was involved in some sort of child extortion ring. The thing I never really did understand was the group of women. And Holly Hunter's presence as a counselor? among them? Giving these riddle like comments.
I would definitely watch a season 2.
Great performances!Yeah it really wasn't difficult to figure out, but the performances were riveting (I thought). The women were just weird. Felt like a place for plot and character exposition more than an integral part of the story. Matt certainly showed his character in relation to them!
I have this recorded. I hope it was good!Well, killer finally revealed.Any thoughts on whether you think Carver would force Ellie to come clean about Tom?
