(((((Cori)))))This news makes me very sad. I watched Leonard Nimoy on TV and in the theater for years and saw him once in real life. If I hadn't already given up on everything weeks ago I would now be totally discouraged.
He also did the voice of Moundshroud on the Emmy Award-winning adaptation of Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree!
....beautifully stated my friend, just beautiful...This is tough.
In the Star Trek original series, the episode "Requiem for Methuselah," they found a guy who had been immortal on earth. He went from culture to culture and in fact had done a number of notable things, inventor, composer, statesman, in his various guises.
After the confrontations and drama, it turned out that the guy, living on the planet and away from Earth, was now living a normal life and would die naturally. Spock said, "On that day, I shall mourn."
As a teenager, dissatisfied with many of the ways of my fellow humans, not to mention being terminally shy and socially awkward, much of my life philosophy found a home with the words of that logic-based alien, who provided the show's overview of us as humans. And Leonard Nimoy carried that forth splendidly.
Today, I mourn.
...it's why I didn't post it yesterday...I made a whimpering mess of myself in the theater when this scene played out...hell, I cried harder at this than when Old Yeller bought the farm...It's going to be a while before I can watch this.
...I had never seen that....thanks honey for posting it...so well done....One of my favorite commercials ever:
I know he does a lot of charity work but I think he should have made an exception in this case. Sorry, but he could manage to come here last summer to be grand marshall at the Calgary Stampede...ditch the damn red cross thingy. This is SPOCK for pity's sake! Nothing is as important as this.
The casual neck pinch gets me every time. And Zach drops. "See you inside." I grin and clap. Yeah. I'm just silly that way....I had never seen that....thanks honey for posting it...so well done....
He actually recorded a number of Mr. Bradbury's stories from The Martian Chronicles. My dad had the recordings, years ago. He captured the tempo of Mr. Bradbury's writing very well.
Here are a few of them, from Open Culture:
