Yeah, he definitely has "Happy Crappy" issues....
Thanks, Spideyman. I haven't heard of this, but will see if I can find it and give it a try.if you enjoy dog stories and a good mystery may I suggest the Chet the dog/Berney series by Spencer Quinn. The first is Dog On IT. Read this on a SK recommendation. The narrator is Chet, the dog, and the story is from how he see the world ( nation within a nation ). Good reads.
I didn't like the Kid, I found him annoying, and not the kind where you still want to read about them, like Poke or Harold, I mean the kind where I would roll my eyes and go "ugh, more 'kid' stuff to read"You don't tell me, I tell you.
He was pretty stupid as well. You don't try and rebel against Flagg. That is like signing your own death certificate.
It doesn't get any good until page 1,102. You might as well skip ahead. Kidding! The (Uncut) Stand. Page 208..
Yup. His character and the expansion of Trashcan Man's role were the biggest parts added to the uncut STAND, and the weakest parts (IMHO). Probably why I like the original betterI didn't like the Kid, I found him annoying, and not the kind where you still want to read about them, like Poke or Harold, I mean the kind where I would roll my eyes and go "ugh, more 'kid' stuff to read"
Thank you! I didn't know Lindqvist had another novel out--I really, really enjoyed Let The Right One In. Another to add to my queue!Hild by Nicola Griffith. I AM in 7th century/ Anglo Saxon Britain when I'm reading this book. A fascinating view on the so-called Dark Ages.
And
Handling the Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist. An interesting take on zombies. He also wrote Let the Right One In.
I've read a lot of Atwood and pretty much love everything I've read. I have not read The Penelopiad though. So did you figure out if you liked it or not?Finished THE PENELOPIAD. Now I have to think about it (definitely a must with Atwood's books) and decide if I liked it or not. Next up is a book that comes out in March, framed as a lot of letters, legal documents, etc. Not sure so far--not crazy about the format, but we'll see.
