Gimme directions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!There is a book exchange store that's going out of business in my town. Y'all, I just about had a heart attack when I went in there! They still have thousands of books, and were unpacking cases and cases of vintage books the owner's daughter found in his basement, trying to sell them before they have to vacate the building at the end of the month. kingricefan , you would be in heaven! No King, aside from one movie tie-in Running man and a few of the Green Mile singles (they said his were out the door the first day--someone found a first edition The Shining! And paid $1 for it!), but so many others. I got all flustered and had to leave--lol. I mean to go back tomorrow with a set amount of money and leave the debit card at home--I'm in serious danger of overspending when it comes to books.
I feel you! I am totally unreliable in book stores. Dont leave me alone or i will buy something i dont really can afford. Once I went in just to check what they had and wandered out with books i had paid 70 US dollars for. Its all right, you can say it, i'm crazy! I just cant seem to stop myself. There is a book exchange store that's going out of business in my town. Y'all, I just about had a heart attack when I went in there! So have i! Are you worthless in throwing away books too? If I can give them to a specifik person its OK but to give and not knowing the book will find a good home, as if you give to a charity, i have difficulties with. I want to know that the home the book comes to is a caring one. Is that silly?Been there, done that, got the bookcases to prove it.
NO. I have the exact same problem. I have donated honestly, hundreds of books, especially when my mom died and I inherited her books (which most were nicer than mine so I kept and donated mine) One whole wall in her family room was floor to ceiling books in these beautiful built -in bookshelves. So have i! Sam Joyce, you have 19 more posts before you are unmoderated. I will be on and off this evening if you want to get those 19 posts in and become unmoderated. Which means you don't have to wait to see your posts, they will post automatically.found this thing in book sale (don't mind the messy background (where my calculator was mounted at my drawing table) for $8
brought this because of 300 Spartans, Hasashins, Knight Templars, imperial guards, British Comamndos and delta forces (which reminds me of Counter strike)

How about a certain Catholic HS? Religious study courses??Not at all! I have a really large tote full of religious history books, from a mania I had a few years back. I needed to get stern with myself and make room on my shelves before I died by tripping over piles on the floor, so I went through one of my big shelves, pulled off those books that I knew I wouldn't read again, and kept good references or well written books I might want to read again. This was well over a year ago, and the tote still sits at the bottom of the basement stairs because I can't bring myself to blind donate them to Savers or whatever! I know they're pretty esoteric, so most of them will end up being pulped, and I can't stand the thought. Foolishness, but there I am And I need to do something like this once again and soon because the piles are getting precarious AGAIN. I'm getting flop-sweat just thinking about it.
I donate my books very conservatively for that very reason. I would never sell them to a store. I buy books as a profession and know how the sausage is made. I personally only recycle books that are beyond readable, meaning they are damaged beyond repair, or mildewed etc.. The books I recycle without a thought are things like investment books from the 80's, books that no longer have pertinent information. Not at all! I'll check on that! I tried at our church, but the Fathers already have an extensive collection. The high school, though--that's a good idea! Thanks! How about a certain Catholic HS? Religious study courses??
Most excellent deal for the Crichton book!I found a first edition HB Michael Crichton EATERS OF THE DEAD at Savers for $1.99. Not too shabby, as I haven't read the story and Abe Books has one in similar condition for $135. I checked to of idle curiosity--I won't sell it, but it did give me a giggle
