Hope everyone had a good holiday and thanks to all our board members who are veterans or active military. And to all the families of the same or the fallen. Sorry it's a day late (Mrs. Hoss had me working hard all weekend long and man does our landscaping look good now!), but this gratitude should be a daily thing for us all.
If you didn't know, Memorial Day was a holiday started after the Civil War by The Grand Army of the Republic, which was a Union veterans organization. They decided to mark a day of remembrance by placing flowers on the graves of the fallen. It was originally called Decoration Day. it was also chosen as a way to mark the start of summer. The symbolism being that the "easy days of summer" where many toiled away freely at their wares, were given to us by the sacrifice of the military. A most excellent sentiment.
