I'm writing hoping that Stephen reads this. The FAQ says he sometimes does. My boyfriend bought me "Dr. Sleep" for Christmas and I loved every minute of it. 32 hours in 2 days. It was fun finding out what had happened since that awful winter. I've been a constant fan but seeing all of the things you've written that I haven't read, I can't truthfully call myself "Constant Reader"(glum face).
Connor, my boyfriend's son, is an ADHD child and as a result, has had a very difficult time learning to read, among other things. When he was 8 or 9, he used to beg me to tell him spooky stories. Following your example, I made up little stories that pulled him in, kept his attention just long enough...sorry to say I didn't help with the sleep without a night light project. He still does. In the effort to find something that would intrigue him into reading, I put little bits of those stories (the ones that his face said were good) into a short story on paper. It took me a month to write and I got lost in the middle but 4 years later, he agreed to finally read it (he gave up asking me to read it to him) and deemed it "creepy". Yeah! So Stephen, I want to thank you ever so for teaching me. Gratefully yours, Beth

Welcome to the SKMB - I hope your boyfriend's son is doing better now. If he can read, I would suggest "The Eyes of the Dragon" which is sort of a fairy tale. I enjoyed it a lot and it is geared towards younger readers

Thanks, Neesy. Turns out he's kinda particular about what he reads. Quite the critic. I bought him a book Christmas before last, 1000 Doors, or something like that...bet he hasn't even opened it. He's into a warrior cat series, 27 books, I think. Gotta admire the perseverance. Maybe I'll check this out of the library for him when I go tomorrow.

It is actually sort of an old fashioned fairy tale but very well written - Stephen King wrote it for his daughter Naomi when she was 12 and wanted a book that was not so "gory" (or something like that). So there is no real horror or blood in it.

Edit: Oh, sorry - I did not see your post saying he already read it. I am not too observant at the moment, having just woken up from a nap!
