She was definitely unsettling at first. I don't know if she will remain so for whole other movie. I think seeing her more often will remove the gasp factor. We watched The Conjuring 2 this weekend, too. I thought the first one was scarier...yet that freaky nun was in my head all darn night! No nightmares, but her face was right there in my mind's eye every time I woke up.
Those kinds of movies freak me out.
I watched it last week. That opening was horrifying. I have no other words.Watched Nocturnal Animals last night.
Sorry, but the first few minutes was disgusting and far too long.
I had a full plate of nachos in front of me and I had to wait until the images were out of my brain and my stomach settled down before I could enjoy my food.
Though the remainder of the movie was not as nauseating, it was terribly drawn out. Should've followed my first instinct turned it off during opening credits, but I was curious about finding out how it all ended.
It didn't. Don't waste two hours of your life.
I'm the one who put it on our Netflix queue so I'm "not allowed" to pick movies again for a while.
I watched this movie a few weeks ago. It was the first time I've actually been grossed out by McConaughey. And McConaughey wore a vest--no naked chest--on Magic Mike.

Both the movie and the story within the story, were depressing and beyond. Haven't felt that way after a movie since I watched The Road.
I haven't seen it, to be honest. I have seen stills from the movie, though For a while there, you couldn't avoid them on FB--lol.I watched this movie a few weeks ago. It was the first time I've actually been grossed out by McConaughey.

According to my daughter, the marketing was deceptive. It is NOT a sex romp, despite having strippers, and it's not really funny. She said it is really pretty serious and sad (not surprising when the director is Steven Soderberg).I haven't watched Magic Mike. Do you recommend it? (Ack! McConaughey gross? Well all right, all right, all right.)

Speaking of which, have you seen the movie Wristcutters? That's a quirky little number--I quite enjoyed itWrist-cutter. Nope. Thank you!

I read the book and watched the movie and they were unsettling to say the least. I couldn't wrap my mind around why Jake didn't DO someTHING!!! But, looking at it, not much he could do.
BTW-the movie and book ending were different.

And dark. Story aside, the visuals were so dim I thought something was wrong with my TV. And their home may have been the most bleak "rich people house" I've ever seen on film.
I was going to read the book first, but aftrr the movie, I have no interest. The main draw for me was that Michael Shannon had a role. I adore him.
(Say Hey! to your son.)
