I'm about halfway through Theft By Finding by David Sedaris. This one is a bit different than his usual memoirs since it is journal entries rather than fully fleshed out stories so it's easy to pick up for short periods and leave alone for a while which has been exactly what I've need lately with all the tumult in my world. He never fails to put a smile on my face even in the ****tiest of times. <3

I finished Winesburg, Ohio and stopped reading The Last of the Mohicans...maybe I will watch the movie, never seen it. I began Up From Slavery and I'm digging it. I am almost finished with Cutting For Stone. Has anyone read this book?
I read Cutting For Stone several years ago. To be honest, I don't remember much detail.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I can understand that because even though it's a beautiful book there aren't any quotable lines...yet. I'm on page 250. Usually, while reading any given book, I'm highlighting on my Kindle or writing quotes in my book journal. I'd compare Verghese to Sherwood Anderson and John Irving. It's a well told story and I find myself thinking about the characters when I'm away from it; in this regard, it's a great book.

Since stepping back from the talisman I haven't really read anything for a while except for little bits here and there of Only Fools and Stories, an autobiography by British TV legend Sir David Jason. I got about a quarter of the way through the talisman but it was just all so dark, depressing and sombre from the very start. I'll probably go back to it but not for a little while yet.

I've been wanting to get back into a book recently and was looking at things like watchers by Dean Koontz, or sleeping beauties, maybe even end of watch now that the disappointment of finders keepers is out of my system - I quite miss holly, one of stephen's better female characters. Lately though I've been hearing a faint call from a certain tower. I never thought I'd want to reread such a massive journey but something is definitely calling me back. Maybe next time round I might even like wastelands.

Well... It became Dumb Witness. Finished now. considering it was written in the 30,s when Christie was very good (Death on the Nile, Murder in The Vicarage, And Then There Were None and many more) this is not her best. Its still cozy but, for christie, sub par. I still think its better than many other authors total output.

Since my hiatus from reading last year, I have three books by John Sandford to catch up with. I started with Escape Clause and zipped right through it, now I am reading Golden Prey. First started reading Sandford books after seeing SK recommended him, that was good enough for me, and have enjoyed his books immensely over the years."If you haven't read Sandford yet you have been missing one of the great summer-read novelists of all time."
