I finished reading the The Testing trilogy. It was recommended by do1you9love? 's daughter. (Thanks do1you9love? 's daughter!) I really like these YA dystopian stories and The Testing is one of the best

Yeay! She'll be so pleased! She's in the middle of the second book now and doing some school paper thing on it, so I'm stuck waiting until she's done. D'oh!I finished reading the The Testing trilogy. The old oneI have settled on the idea of re-reading the gunslinger (not sure if it will lead to a full dark tower reread - if it does it won't be back to back). Only question left is do I read my nice soft, worn in paperback or do I use my pristine paperback from my favourite king item (well, maybe joint favourite with my cheap decrepit paperback of It) - my dark tower box set.

Did you ever try the Fever Devlin series I recommended? The author is Philip DePoy. They are not cozy mysteries or romance, don't worry. Maybe you can find the first one, The Devil's Hearth, at your library.I finished reading the The Testing trilogy. It was recommended by do1you9love? 's daughter. (Thanks do1you9love? 's daughter!) Have actually not read him..... Know of him though. His most well known is probably A man Called Ove which was richly praised. Beartown (Björnstad in swedish) has, i heard, a more serious note. Smalltown in northern sweden where the towns team (a hockeyteam) means everything. Go for it i say. And then tell me what you think!!Kurben - are you familiar with Fredrik Backman? Someone in my book club selected his novel Beartown for our April book.
Will do. Thanks, my friend!Have actually not read him..... Know of him though. His most well known is probably A man Called Ove which was richly praised. including the Trojan war? Or just how he and his brother were thrown out by their uncle and later came back and became Mykenes King. Does it go to his death and his chldrens actions upon it too? Lot of material to dig from there. Sounds interesting....House of Names (Colm Toibin). Very good retelling of the Agamemnon story.
It was interesting. Toibin touched on the Trojan War, but mixed up or made up most of the story after Iphigenia. He makes a good case for Clytemnestra being the actual murderer of Agamemnon! Orestes is younger than Homer reports (13 yrs old-8 when Iphigenia dies). Electra and Orestes end up being less than friendly, certainly not cohorts. Toibin is a good writer--his story is very exciting and thought provoking.including the Trojan war? You are probably right. That is the impression i got from reading reviews. Although he was called a new voice in swedish literature or something like it.A Man Called Ove was okay. Nothing world beating, but okay. Pleasant.
