A Suggestion That SK Stole His Multiverse From A Wrinkle In Time

Ordinarily, I would simply scoff at such an assertion, but I actually have never heard any theory so wide sweeping before. I heard this from a YouTuber today who is generally better informed in his theories (which are actually hypotheses) which is why I was dumbfounded listening to him today. Here is the description of his theory on Mr.King:

"Theorists, let me describe a story to you - see if you can guess what it is. There are psychic kids, celestial beings, time travel, and an entity of pure evil that shape shifts. What story am I talking about? Did you guess IT by Stephen King? Or maybe A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle? Well, loyal Theorists, it's BOTH!! Today I'm going to tell you how Stephen King STOLE his multiverse from A Wrinkle In Time."

Mr. Film Theorist goes by the YouTube username MatPat and he excels in his other incarnation as Game Theorist. I would have expected a far better thought out hypothesis with regard to Mr. King's multiverse from a guy who actually counts pixels to find game clues. I will comment on MatPat's video later in the day, but as he is almost taunting SKer's to chime in and show him he's wrong I thought I would come here and let the family know that the gauntlet has been thrown down. He is begging for his comeuppance, let's give it to him!

I have been away from this forum for a very long time, if this would be better placed in another forum would someone please tap a mod for me? Thank you!

I watch a lot of horror and read or listen to a lot of books. Just because something has some of the same basic points or same traits such has shape shifting evil.. dose not make it the same thing or stealing from it. Its just how you do it. like different types of ice cream. Steven King cherry and Wrinkle in time is peach. Both can be good both are ice cream and tasty. But both are different. Like if you don't like peach you wont read that type of book or eat that type of ice cream.. Now i am hungry

Personally, I'd say ignore him. If he's just trying to start a flame war, why feed it to raise his youtube rating by getting more hits? It's not like Stephen really needs defending about this as it's ridiculous. JMO

Also, where is it written that Stephen King took credit for creating the idea of a multiverse? Writers can use an already established idea without being considered a plagiarist. I think he makes his thoughts clear about this in the afterword of Lisey's Story.
My opinion is The Dark Tower series is groundbreaking and King takes the idea to places no one else has done as cleverly. Precedents are irrelevant, to me.

Sigh. The multiverse idea is old in fiction. Many authors has used it in slightly different ways and with slightly different rules. The first novel i know of that uses a multiverse with rules and all is H.G. Wells in his Men Like Gods (1923) . In the 30,s both Murray Leinster and Olaf Stapledon explored the idea. after them Andre Norton, Asimov, Heinlein, Lewis and, as already mentioned Moorcock uses it. More recently has S.M. Stirling and Harry Turtledove used it and Philip Pullman and many others. This idea, just as monsters, timetravel, and other stuff are part of the toolkit that every author uses that writes this type of fiction. To suggest something else is just foolish and not worthy of an answer-
