A state of denial, mostly, if you think I'm footing that bill!
Aside from Maine, Colorado and parts of Florida, Pittsburgh and western PA is one of SK's favorite settings for his fiction. Libertyville from
Christine is a fictionalized suburb of Pittsburgh. SK and son Joe stayed in Monroeville during the shooting of Creepshow, where SK lived for 2 months and wrote the unpublished "The Cannibals" which later became "Under The Dome". (Monroeville is also home to the shopping mall where George Romero shot
Dawn of the Dead).
There are several Creepshow shooting locations including the CMU building where that great segment "The Crate" was shot. "The Dark Half" was shot around here, as well as the George Romero film Knight Riders which SK had a cameo in.
The restaurant at the top of the incline ride in Pittsburgh has been in a funny SK anecdote, where he was asked by the bathroom attendant for his autograph while he was uh, occupied in the men's room stall.
Local Pittsburgh author Stuart O'Nan, a great talent in his own right, was a co-author a book with SK, "Faithful".
Further north you have the fictional settings of "From a Buick 8". I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.
