I read Rose Madder last week and nearly finished Thinner. There are similarities in that there is a price paid for what the main characters go through. For instance, Billy, when he's fat, is or seems to be a fairly nice guy, when he gets thinner, he becomes more angry. Rosie, after dealing with Norman, after being meek and submissive, becomes angry in her new assertiveness. Anger. I believe Thinner is Bachman's best book. Reading this this morning I know why King is my favorite writer.
There’s a teacher at my school who’s been teaching there since the late 50’s, she’s probably outlived a chunk of her students
A person born in 1950 would only be 68......
I know that, you have to be an adult to have a teaching job at a high school though, she’s in her mid to late eighties. I’m sure not every student she’s had is alive today if you consider that 17 year olds in the late 50’s would be in their seventies now, and not everyone is lucky enough to live to then, especially around 60 school years worth of 6 periods of classes.

My point being if she started teaching in 1956-9 some of her earlier students are probably in their graves now.
