In the sequel to the novel, titled Gump & Co, readers find out that Jenny actually died of Hepatitis C. What... we shouldn't trust what authors write? "Meh... what do they know!" ;):)
Winston Groom also had Forrest going into space with, I think it was an orangutan.

So obviously, he has no idea what killed Jenny.

Winston Groom? NO. He had a seed of a story. Eric Roth, the screenwriter was the one that made him the millions. He was the guy that made that story amazing. Winston Groom's story was horrible.
Some people claim Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption wasn’t that great of a story. So Frank Darabont should get all the acclaim for Shawshank Redemption and King nothing?

Apples and oranges. All page to movie scripts change from the author's original because of numerous factors. But it comes down to percentage. What was the percentage of Stephen's story that remained intact and used in the movie compared to Winston Groom's?

I went by the intention of the movie and the brilliant screenwriter Eric Roth.

You are sticking with Winston Groom and his hep C.

Which came first... the novel or the movie?

Errr... scratch that, the sequel was written after the movie. Regardless, I'm still right. The power of the pen is more important than those celluloid heroes.
