I don't give two craps how they react. King has been a part of my life since I was just shy of twelve years old. Since 1984, there hasn't
been a single year that I don't have a SK book sitting on my desk (and now on my Kindle) to read. I love his work too much to care what other people think. There are seven billion of us on the planet: we can't all like the same thing, and that's perfectly alright with me.

(At the library)I agree with you in terms of not caring what others think if i am enjoying the books or author. I was just curious because i did find it funny that i normally receive those reactions and was curious if other people received the same reactions
And that right there tells you everything you need to know.(At the library)
Patron to me: You are reading Stephen King? (wrinkles nose)
Me to patron: Yep. Is that a copy of Fifty Shades of Gray you're holding?
Ar least it wasn't "Twilight" they were reading..........(At the library)

And just for full disclosure, I have all of the Twilight books and Fifty Shades of Gray books which I will read someday. They probably read "Twilight" on different days but that day was Fifty Shades of Gray
Re gifting can be fun.....And just for full disclosure, I have all of the Twilight books and Fifty Shades of Gray books which I will read someday.
In my defense, I did not buy any of them, they were gifted to me.

I was taking a late evening bus home one night reading 'The Stand'. A guy gets on the bus and says "You're reading that crap!?" I stood up and said in my loudest, most threatening street voice "How dare you, sir!" and bravely ran away.

Good to see you again! After all these years people still think I'm a whack job. I'm the one in the family who likes that "weird guy". They walk into my house and one of the first things they see is my bookcase full of King novels. I have no problem with their reaction or opinion. I read all kinds of books. Just finished HG Wells The Time Machine. So basically I don't let it get to me. Just smile and go back to your book.
