I thought about you when I got frustrated the other day. Moving is the worst. And the emotional weight of your loss on top of it, I told myself I had no reason to complain, I am just rearranging!
...oh no Tina, never feel that way....it wasn't one-upmanship-just empathy.....my carefully arranged bookshelves are all boogered up for a while, but at least the books came through unscathed.....

Good morning, hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was long.

I am giving up my "library." I think I told this before, but that room was supposed to be a walk in closet. Pshaw. I don't need no stinkin' walk in closet! First it was Ali and Ty's nursery. Then my library. But the kids are all teenagers now and we just don't have the room to keep sharing closets! So, I guess I do need a stinkin' walk in closet. :(

Anyway, I had planned on doing this all summer, but ugh...moving all those books!!! I have 4 tall regular sized cases, 2 small ones, and my SK case is actually a china cabinet. A big one.

My plan is to just swap out the bookcases for our dressers. Put the dressers in the closet, leave one short wall empty for a clothes rod and shelving. Scatter the bookcases around my room.

I have gotten the 4 tall cases unloaded, moved, reloaded and one dresser unloaded, moved and reloaded. In 2 days. (Plus, i have made a huge mess in the process of doing this. HUGE.) I am sore today, night shifts start today so no work getting done until tonight, if I can move. Haha. The whole week is busy. Nights, plus Thurs Ali has to pick up her schedule at school plus help out with orientation for new students. Thurs night I will have Spencer while Brandon and Marti take the other 2 littles to kindergarten open house. Friday is Ty's 7th grade orientation. All day. I have a feeling not much work is going to be done in the house.

Anyway. That's what I'm up to! Sounds like fun, doesn't it? :p

Have a great day! Big hugs and positive vibes to all! :love_heart:

wow that is hard, but a good reason to get rid of some books you no longer need\want
i just did this and it was hard but I told myself a book was not happy unless it was being read. lol and no I did not get rid of my king books. but I did find double copies of both pet sematary, so I donated the grosser looking one. i may frame that dust cover not shure

I also saw this on spirt Halloween. I like these better, I may get some of the décor pieces.

I have been putting Ikea bookshelves together. What bugs me is that it always some things over and i cent figure out where they should go. The shelves sure seem stable enough. Have been putting books in them too, done some reorganizing.. I have created a new classics section, everything from Dickens and Dostojevskij to Wilde. Worked great. Gave some more room in the fiction shelf too!
But i do wonder where these screws and nails and small treethingies and other stuff are supposed to go.....?

Once I was looking for a bookcase on the internet and found one called a "Billy". It was only about 18 inches wide but a little over 6 feet tall. I asked my husband if he could make it and the next day I had it. There is a double bookcase in the living room but I wanted one for special books, like SK books and my physics collection. Good luck with your puzzle bookcase.

Good Thorsday Ka-tet!
Wishing everyone to have a GREAT day. :)
I've got the computer for just a little while this morning, so checking in while I can.
Fingerpads are sore as hell from using the tv remote! lol, mom's is a little better than mine at home. But not by much.
I've been keeping posts down to the minimum lately. ;)
Still in San Antonio, of course, and having still having a good time. I've got all my work assignments done and can sit back and relax.
Going down to the riverwalk this weekend! Been so looking forward to that! We're going to get a hotel room down there for a couple of days.
It's going to be a lot of fun!
We'll probably see about returning to North Texas in about a week or so from now.
(((((((((All in need or not!))))))))

How did you get stuck in north Texas? I was born in San Antonio too, but ended up in Arlington, Texas and then moved about 40 miles south of Arlington since 1984.

To that I say "Hurray!" We went down to 9 C last night which is about 48 F. When it is minus 40 with a wind chill this coming winter I will probably look back on this time as nice, but at the moment I would rather have a break from the heat and humidity.

I had the oven on to make those Sugar 'n Spice cookies yesterday - phew!

Then I decided to try a recipe for "Easy Cheesy Potatoes" which required another 30 minutes at 375 :sweat_more:

We had to finally put on the AC as I was sweltering (Guess you could call that 'self-inflicted wounds' but those cookies were a nice change!)

I used the recipe from a Family Circle magazine
Yeah, Scott said we had a low of 48 on Mon night. It is a coming!

Oh no! I didn't feel that way! Just the same, empathy for what you have been busy doing, on a much bigger scale than my project! :love_heart:

Thanks - that is just a pic from the internet - mine turned out bigger - I used a rounded tablespoon of dough for each one. They also look thicker - only got about two dozen out of the whole batch.
