Luke Skywalker was the most optimistic, loving, caring characters, and an inspiration for many. What did Rian Johnson do? Yep, destroyed Luke. I don't know who that guy in TLJ is. Check this out:
Apparently they brought J.J. Abrams on board for this newest movie, so maybe......most of the shows Abrams makes are solid, he has a few I didn't much care for but overall he seems to do a good job. Guess we'll see.

J.J. Abrams remade Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan and called it Star Trek: Into Darkness, J.J. remade Star Wars: A New Hope and called it TFA, I really don't think he's much of a director when it comes to these sorts of movies, don't get me wrong, I love some of the original stuff he has done, but with Star Wars, it's just a nostalgia trip.

Is Star Trek going to be part of that?

I think I’m steering away from Star Trek, but I haven’t had an official conversation with those guys yet. In a strange way, it seems like this movie, Hollywood, would be my last.

Yeah the remake of ST2 was a train wreck. I had a hard time even finishing that one. Maybe it's time to clean house and give it over to Quentin Tarantino or something...lol

I'm currently on holiday, yesterday I made a huge start on clearing up the war-zone that is my 11-year-old son's bedroom. I have half a day left until he's home for the summer holidays (he doesn't go back until Feb 3rd) and I am PROCRAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSTINATING.
It's a lot more fun hanging out here than tidying up kid krap.

Sigh.

But if I don't finish before I have to go get him from school, then I can't indiscriminately throw stuff out.

I hear ya Flake. I tackled the four year olds room while Tamara and he were vacationing in Branson, Missouri a couple of weeks ago with his grandmother......Dragons were slain, things were thrown, much was thrown in the garbage.....found a pack of Marlboros....not kidding, old pack of Marlboro cigarettes in his closet...is he smoking??????? Did I drop them in his room when I used to smoke? Did he buy them off some toddler on the playground at nursery school? I mean, really, these kids are smart nowadays but selling smokes on the playground? Damn, I would have never thought of that. Anyway, His room, the smallest of our three bedrooms, took me damn near 2.5 hours to clean out and get organized. It was just ridiculous.....lol

Sorry to have to tell you this but it doesn’t change. The youngest is 19 and in college and her room has always been a mess. They had a dorm room inspection right before she came home for the holiday and the RA freaked out over the mess. She kicked him out of her room and said the rules state that she is to receive, via email, 24 hours notice before a room check is made. She said he should send her an email and come back tomorrow. When he left, her roommate and her worked frantically to clean up the dorm room. It passed inspection the next day... barely. :(

That's the key. They can't be there because they want to keep everything.

Of course, the times I was able to do a stealth mission, the one mangled action figure I throw away that was stashed in a pile under the bed and who hadn't seen the light of day in months -- is the one thing they start searching for the next day after the trash goes.

:biggrin2: At least they know their rights!
(and messy rooms are not news to me, this kid is the youngest in a long line of big brothers who have paved the way before him)

 Right?! (I usually say.... 'Hmm, I'm not sure where that is kid, I have cleaned absolutely everything up and didn't come across it. Are you sure it was in this room?")

I'm mainly irritated with the fact of Rey going from basically a scavenger to jedi friggin' master with no training or plot development. I l liker her character, I sincerely do, she's got moxy and reminds me a lot of Han Solo, but she kind of APPEARS all of a sudden and now she's some super jedi...I just don't get that. Also, this whole Luke Skywalker thing about the brooding, "I don't want this burden of the force" crap? Meh, that's not how I remember Luke Skywalker. The whole plot line just seems rife with comic relief and a disjointed story line. I know, it made millions at the box office and I'm probably in the minority but as an old school Star Wars person who was completely and totally blown away by the original trilogy, it just left me very much wanting some old school Start Wars...lol
There’s a term for characters like this, “Mary Sue”

She was a likable character, but I too agree everything involving her is way too convenient

I earned this recently:

and I also earned this Rocket Boot badge for walking 90,000 steps in one day. (plus all the badges below 90,0000)

(I actually did 95,000 steps, but they don't recognize the next badge until you reach 100,000, which is the Olympian badge.)
