Not to start an argument or anything, but...

When it was first announced I said I was not too bothered by it all. I was happy Ms. Mod could retire - but as it gets closer I am starting to feel worse (sorry!)
No need to be sorry and not sure why it would cause an argument. Can't imagine why anyone would feel the need to do that or try to cause friction about it. In the grand scheme of things, it's not high on the list of momentous occasions but still it's the end of an era for a good many of us. (((Neesy)))

I loved Nancy Drew and read every book--when I was in middle school. :) Also was heavily into science fiction then and Jules Verne was a favorite. At that time, the street I lived on was just around the corner from one of my city's branch libraries. Especially during summer vacations I would go nearly every day to check out a book and depending on how long it was, might read it and then return it in the afternoon to check out another one.
I had always seen Nancy Drew at the library but never read any of them. I looked it up as I had no idea they were that old, they're older than my grandma wow, I had always thought they might be from the 60s-70s. Perhaps I saw a rerelease or spin off? My favorite books in elementary was Tales of a 4th grade nothing, I read them all multiple times, I could finish one in less than 3 hours.

I read them back in the day (early to mid-60s) when girls typically read Nancy Drew and boys read The Hardy Boys but yeah, old even for my time. Can't remember, but might even have been my mother who suggested them as they were around when she was at an age to have been interested.

Must have been hard being a kid detective in the midst of the Great Depression
