Alright after some careful consideration I have decided that this question was indeed what has been eating at me for a couple of days.

Whew, at my age, remembering what you were thinking about earlier is often a relief. Like when you were younger and found a four leaf clover or the last cookie your brother hid from you, it brings you a lot of pleasure.

Whether I get an answer or not has become secondary to actually recalling I had posed the question.

See starting to realize when you get older that trying is almost as fulfilling as accomplishing.

Must be why old guys keep flirting with young girls huh?

Nah we just built that way.

If you check out my other thread on this web site you may see why this has become a little more urgent of a question for me.

Not using my situation as leverage for an answer.

OK yeah I am.

Lost my humility on the ride to hospital that night when I woke up to guy holding electrically charged paddles twice.

Now I have no shame.

It's a fair enough question but probably one that doesn't have any definitive answer. To the extent that it does you probably came as close as possible in your original post. Some things happen in fiction for dramatic effect. If you watch the Three Stooges and asked yourself wouldn't it hurt to have a finger poked in your eye every five minutes, you probably wouldn't enjoy it much. I think the two out play at the plate just adds drama even if it might not be 100% realistic. So I think it can be considered a technical "mistake" in that it might not have happened that way in reality (although intentional in the fictional context to add drama) or leave open some hypothetical reason not spelled out in the story for it to have happened that way however unrealistic (e.g. maybe the pitcher fumbles the ball, the runner from third stumbles and it is his only play to throw home). That's the best I can do.

That is my take on it too. Thank you. Enjoyed your logically thought out answer. Like I said in original post not a story killer just a question that if I had the chance to speak to Mr King in person I would ask him.

Bucket list thing...

Uhoh said it again,
