The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy.

The child, who was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, central London, is fifth in line to the throne and the Queen's sixth great-grandchild.

The new arrival, who is the third child of Catherine and the Duke of Cambridge, weighs 8lbs 7oz.

A Kensington Palace statement said Catherine and her new son are "both doing well" and that members of both families had been informed.

I love all the pomp and circumstance of our country. I wanted to grow up to be the Usher of the Black Rod.

The invitation from the green room into the red room is all so formal. The Usher carries the message, knocks three times (with the rod). The door is opened and someone else knocks on the inner door and says there is a message, then permission must be granted for the Usher to enter.

Glad the baby is healthy.

Too bad they'd already used George. Not that I believe that Louis was actually born on St. George's Day (23 Apr). If he really was, Kate's not human (or not anymore; mebbe it's the werewolf genes now she's been turned... (quick Dr. Who reference there, for those who don't know ;))).
